I had the craving for steak on Monday, April 11, 2022, after a hectic week of work. I wanted to treat myself without spending too much, and I found the perfect place: Waroeng Steak and Shake. Not only is it affordable, but it also offers halal options, making it a great choice for many.
Waroeng Steak and Shake is a popular chain in Indonesia, with branches spread across various regions. In Bali alone, it has four branches: Peguyangan, Renon, Kuta, and Jimbaran. I decided to visit the Renon branch, located on Jl. Tukad Yeh Aya in Denpasar, as it was close and easily accessible.
It was around 6:45 PM when we arrived, and the restaurant was packed. The lively atmosphere made me happy because it showed that things were getting back to normal post-pandemic. The restaurant was full of families, students, office workers, and people enjoying an affordable and tasty meal. Despite the crowds, Waroeng Steak and Shake made sure to adhere to health protocols, such as handwashing stations, temperature checks, and sanitizers, with all staff wearing masks.

The menu at Waroeng Steak and Shake offers a variety of steak options, with chicken steak being a popular choice. We decided to try the Chicken Double Steak, Chicken Mushroom Steak, Cheese Wedges, Milkshake Strawberry, and Honey Lime Ice.
Even though the place was packed, the staff remained friendly and helpful. They quickly provided us with tissues and condiments whenever we asked. After about 25 minutes, our order arrived, and I was eager to dig in.
The Chicken Double Steak is a must-try at Waroeng Steak and Shake. This dish features tender chicken breast coated in a crispy batter. Every time I visit, I order this steak because it’s both satisfying and delicious.
The portion is generous, with a side of vegetables like carrots, peas, corn, and crispy potato wedges. The chicken is cooked to perfection, tender on the inside, and crispy on the outside. For just around IDR 30,000, it’s an amazing deal. The savory sauce adds another layer of flavor to this already fantastic dish.
The Chicken Mushroom Steak is another standout item on the menu. The chicken breast is topped with a creamy mushroom sauce and served with the same sides as the Chicken Double Steak. The chicken is just as tender and perfectly cooked.
The mushroom sauce is rich and flavorful, soaking into the meat beautifully. This dish is a bit smaller than the Chicken Double Steak, so it pairs wonderfully with a serving of white rice. The combination of steak and rice is a classic in Indonesian dining, and it’s perfectly executed here. The Cheese Potato Wedges are also a treat, with a cheesy, gooey center that doesn’t overwhelm the taste buds.
